Carlos Correa: A Rising Star in the MLB

Early Life and Career

Carlos Correa was born on September 22, 1994, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He attended Santa Maria High School in his hometown, where he excelled in baseball. In 2012, he was named the Gatorade Puerto Rico Player of the Year. After graduating high school, Correa attended Texas A&M University. In his freshman year, he was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American. The following year, he helped lead Texas A&M to the College World Series, where they finished third.

MLB Career

Correa was drafted first overall by the Houston Astros in the 2012 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 2015 and quickly became one of the league's top shortstops. In his rookie season, he was named the American League Rookie of the Year and helped the Astros reach the World Series. In 2017, Correa won the Gold Glove Award and the Platinum Glove Award for his exceptional defensive play. He also helped the Astros win the World Series that year. After the 2021 season, Correa became a free agent and signed a three-year, $105.3 million contract with the Minnesota Twins.

International Career

Correa has also been a member of the Puerto Rican national baseball team. He helped Puerto Rico win a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Personal Life

Correa is married to Daniella Rodriguez, a former Miss Texas USA. The couple has two daughters.
